About Calculadora.co.uk

calculadoras that respect your time

Calculadora.co.uk is an independent publisher based in the United Kingdom. We build calculadoras for the moments when a number matters — take-home pay, a mortgage offer, a BMI check, a percentage on a school worksheet — and we explain the method so you actually understand the answer.

The site is run by a small editorial team, not a faceless content farm. Every calculadora passes through at least two pairs of eyes: the author who wrote the explainer, and a reviewer with domain expertise (tax, health, property or maths).

Bilingual by design

We publish in British English and Brazilian Portuguese as peers, not as translations. Each language has its own editorial voice and its own worked examples where the underlying rules diverge (for instance, UK tax vs Portuguese-speaking user expectations).

Where a topic is UK-specific — Stamp Duty Land Tax, PAYE, NHS BMI guidance — the pt-BR version explains what the concept is and how it applies to Portuguese-speaking residents of the UK, rather than inventing a Brazilian equivalent.

How we make money

We run a small number of unobtrusive ads and occasionally partner with financial-services firms we'd personally recommend. We never take payment to change the maths or bury negative information. Where a page contains an affiliate link, we label it clearly.

Our editorial independence is a commercial moat: if the numbers aren't right, no one would return.

Authors and reviewers

Our regular contributors are:

  • Laura Whitmore, Finance Editor — former financial journalist, CII-qualified, writes and reviews finance, PAYE, tax and property content.
  • Dr. James Okonkwo, Medical Reviewer — NHS-registered general practitioner, reviews health and nutrition calculadoras against NHS/NICE guidance.
  • The Editorial Desk — a rotating group of maths and utilities writers, plus proof-readers and accessibility reviewers.
